The baby of an Australian mother who died protecting while protecting the infant during a knife attack at a Sydney mall has been released from intensive care.

Ash Good died from her injuries following the April 13 attack in Sydney, according to reports from News.com.au, the BBC and CNN. Five others were also killed in the knife attack.

Among those hospitalized was Good’s 9-month-old daughter, who suffered chest and arm injuries, the BBC reported, citing health officials. The girl has since been moved out of intensive care, according to the outlet.

Good died while protecting her daughter from the attacker, identified in reports as Joel Cauchi, who was shot and killed by a police officer, according to the outlets.

A GoFundMe started to raise money for Good’s family has raised over $500,000.

“Being a mother to baby Harriet and partner to Dan was Ash’s whole life,” the organizer wrote. “Her love and commitment to them was evident to all who knew her.”

Video of the incident, published by 9News Sydney, shows a man confronting Cauchi on an escalator while holding a bollard. 

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said in a video posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the man, Damien Guerot, who confronted the attacker, has been in the process of applying for a visa to stay in Australia.

“You are welcome to stay as long as you like,” Albanese said.

The attacker was killed by a police officer inside of the mall. The other victims in the attack have been identified as Dawn Singleton, 25, Jade Young, 47, Faraz Tahir, 30, Pikria Darchia, 55, and Cheng Yixuan, 25, according to the BBC.
