Swingin’ Medallions, Thompson Square to perform at Myrtle Beach Classic

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A second-generation beach rock band and an award-winning country music duo are scheduled to perform for Myrtle Beach Classic ticketholders during next month’s PGA event at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club.

The Swingin’ Medallions will perform on May 9 and Thompson Square is scheduled for May 11, event organizers said Tuesday. The concerts are set for 6 p.m.

The Swingin’ Medallions, a nine-piece band with South Carolina roots, reached No. 17 on the Billboard chart in 1966 with “Double Shot of My Baby’s Love.” The group previously performed with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

Thompson Square has 10 hits on the country music charts, including “Are You Going to Kiss Me or Not.” Husband and wife Keifer and Shawna Thompson have been recognized as the Vocal Duo of the Year four times by the Country Music Association and three times by the Academy of Country Music. Their most recent hit, “Without You,” was released in 2023.

The inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic PGA event will be played on May 9-12.
