Swing into States: Marquette Little League to host fundraiser for state tournaments

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WJMN) – Marquette Little League is hosting Swing into States on Friday, April 5th. Swing into States is a fundraiser for the 2024 Majors Softball State Tournament. This is the first time that Marquette Little League will be hosting the Majors Softball State Tournament.

Friday night’s event will include live music, raffles, 50/50’s, and door prize drawings. Each $20 ticket includes light snacks and an entry into the door prize drawing.

The funds being raised go towards field maintenance, umpire fees, medals and trophies, concession stand supplies, and more for the tournament in July.

“This is the first time that Marquette has ever held a state tournament ever in the history of the Little League board,” said Raeanna Colantonio, a Board Member of Marquette Little League. “And it’s almost like a once in a lifetime event. It could happen maybe in the next six years. We’re not really sure because of how many districts are and how many leagues are in each district as well. So it’s definitely a huge thing for Marquette. So there’s going to be 14 different teams from Downstate coming to Marquette that have probably never been here. We have blocked out over 300 hotel rooms for all these families to stay in. So just for people that have come to the restaurants, come to the downtown stores for all their stuff like that, it’s a big thing for the city of Marquette, as well.”

Swing into States will be held at Ore Dock Brewing Company on Friday, April 5th and doors will open at 7 p.m.

You can buy tickets for Swing into States at Ore Dock Brewing Company in cash or you can find the Marquette Little League Swing into States Facebook page here. Tickets will also be available the night of the event at the door.

Any left over funds raised from this effort will go towards the renovation of Kaufman Fields.
