Sweepstakes crime continues in Kernersville

May 17—KERNERSVILLE — Police are investigating an armed robbery this past weekend at a sweepstakes business, the third major crime at a Kernersville sweepstakes location in the past month and the second incident at one business on Union Cross Road.

On Saturday shortly after 11:30 a.m., a man entered the Union Cross Adult Arcade Sweepstakes and stole an undisclosed amount of cash while threatening people inside with a firearm, the Kernersville Police Department said.

On April 21, a man was shot at Union Cross Adult Arcade. His injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.

On May 5, two men robbed the Skillz sweepstakes on Bodenhamer Street while brandishing handguns.

Lt. D.R. Crews told The High Point Enterprise that investigators are looking into possible connections among the sweepstakes business crimes.

The men in each of the sweepstakes robberies had a tattoo of a spider-type design on the right side of the neck.

One man was described as 6 feet tall and weighing about 225 pounds, with brown eyes, short black hair and a beard.

The other man was 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighed about 155 pounds. He had a rough beard.
