Sutherland leads by 3 at Rapiscan Systems Classic

Kevin Sutherland fired a 3-under-par 69 on Saturday to get to 10-under 134 for a three-stroke lead through two rounds of the Rapiscan Systems Classic in Biloxi, Miss.

Marco Dawson -- who entered the day tied with Sutherland for the lead at 7 under, three strokes ahead of the rest of the field -- shot even par and holds second alone at 7 under. Billy Andrade (68 on Saturday) and Fred Couples (70) are tied for third at 5 under, with four others another stroke back.

Other than Sutherland and Dawson shooting 65 on Friday, no player has shot better than 68 at Fallen Oak Golf Club.

Sutherland bogeyed the second hole but rebounded with two birdies on the front nine. He opened the back nine with back-to-back birdies, bogeyed the 15th but finished strong with a birdie at No. 18.

Dawson had a rough start, bogeying Nos. 1 and 5. He got one back with a birdie at No. 6 and added one more at the 12th.

Andrade birdied four of his first seven holes and got his round to 5 under with another at No. 13, but a bogey on the 18th prevented him from keeping third place alone.

Couples had an up-and-down day, with six birdies -- including three in a row on Nos. 12-14 -- but was set back by a triple bogey at No. 5 and a bogey at No. 16.

Dawson, 54, is looking for his second career Champions title, having won the 2017 Charles Schwab Cup Championship.

Through the season's first four events, no player to hold at least a share of the opening-round lead has gone on to win.
