Susquehanna University's WQSU receives awards

Mar. 23—SELINSGROVE — Susquehanna University's radio station, WQSU The Pulse, has received two Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Excellence in Broadcasting (PAB) awards.

The student-run station won Outstanding Use of Digital Media for its "Behind the Crime" podcast and promotional video "We are Family," and for "RadioThon," a video promoting the station's annual pledge drive.

The entries were produced by students Ella Collura, of Tobyhanna; Vivianna Couchara, of Abington; Alicia Whisman, of Glenside; Rebecca Wood, of Dover, New Jersey, and Erin Geouque, of Landenberg, who has won her second PAB award.

The station also received a Judge's Merit Award for "PA Pigskin Preview," a live sports talk show that broadcasts every Thursday from Buffalo Wild Wings during the fall. The program is produced by Alex Hare, of Williamstown, New Jersey; Jaxson Purnell, of Catawissa, and Matthew Vargo, of Harrisburg.

There were 463 entries in 22 categories entered in the competition judged by the Alaska Association of Broadcasters. The PAB presented 99 awards to 49 stations and broadcast groups, including college-affiliated stations and major network affiliates.
