Police say a death in northeast Calgary on Sunday that was first deemed suspicious has been ruled a homicide.

The victim has been identified as Manpreet Kaur, 25, of Calgary, after an autopsy was completed on Tuesday by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, according to a news release.

On April 21, at approximately 9:20 a.m., police responded to reports of a woman in medical distress at a residence in the 100 block of Redstone Common N.E.

The Calgary Police Service said lifesaving measures were unsuccessful, and the woman was declared deceased at the scene.

A man taken into custody at the scene has since been released without charge, according to Tuesday's release.

CPS says this is Calgary's seventh homicide of 2024 and the homicide unit is continuing to investigate.
