How a suspicious call led to a drug, weapon bust in Livermore

(KRON) — A suspicious late-night phone call led Livermore police to arrest two men for drug and firearm charges. Shortly after midnight on Wednesday, the Livermore Police Department got a call from a woman who was selling her pickup truck.

According to police, she was concerned about one potential buyer who wanted to look at the truck at a late hour. Officers were dispatched to the scene and located the potential buyers parked near the woman’s home.

There were two men in the car that officers made contact with. Inside the car, officers found 31 ounces of methamphetamine, heroin, a 9mm handgun and ammunition.

The two men were arrested for multiple firearm and narcotics charges. They were identified as 51-year-old Deldato Herrera of Oakland, and 59-year-old John Via, also of Oakland.
