MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Several men are wanted by the Memphis Police Department after they were caught on camera firing shots while running across yards in a Raleigh neighborhood.

Just before 4:30 p.m. on April 21, police say they responded to an aggravated assault in the 3600 block of Ridgemont Avenue.

Video surveillance showed four suspects wearing masks running through the neighboring yards on Bacon Street as they fired multiple shots toward Ridgemont Avenue.

The suspects had various rifle-style weapons and handguns, reports say.

According to a police report, witnesses told police a specific home on their street seemed to be the target, and when the suspects opened fire, they say the people at the home fired back.

But when police went to ask those residents about the incident, the report says they stated nothing had happened, and they did not hear any gunshots.

Meanwhile, police say several occupied houses and vehicles were hit by gunfire. After the shooting, the suspects left the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

Neighbors are now saying they no longer feel comfortable in their own homes.

One neighbor told WREG she was home watching television with her young kids when they dropped to the ground after hearing the gunfire. She still has not recovered from the shock.

“It was scary, it was very scary to know that this is the world we live in now. Very scary, just prayed for my family for the most part,” she said.

Other neighbors say this is normal in the neighborhood, to the point where they are not even phased by the incident.

“I wasn’t really that scared. I wasn’t (scared) at all,” said a neighbor.

According to the Memphis Data Hub, police have been called 148 times in the last year within a quarter-mile radius of this incident.

The first neighbor we spoke with says it has got to the point where she wants to leave Memphis.

“(I am) just scared, afraid for my children. Sometimes my children are at home or outside in the yard. (I am) just feeling like I kind of want to get away from the city at this point,” she said.

No arrests have been made at this time, but this is still an ongoing investigation.
