Suspected drug dealer in standoff with police after possible overdose in Los Angeles

A SWAT team has responded to an hourslong standoff with a suspected drug dealer in the Vermont-Slauson area of Los Angeles Tuesday morning.

Police received a call shortly after midnight reporting a possible overdose at a home near Normandie Avenue and West 65th Street, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed to KTLA.

Arriving officers found a person at the residence who refused to come out.

Investigators believe the person may be a drug dealer who is possibly armed with a handgun, the spokesperson said.

KTLA reached out to the LAPD for an update shortly before 11 a.m. but police were unable to provide any additional details.
