(COLORADO SPRINGS) — According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), Nicholas Jordan, the suspect arrested on Monday, Feb. 19 on two counts of First Degree Murder in connection to the shooting deaths of Samuel Knopp and Celie Montgomery, was a roommate of one of the victims.

According to the El Paso County Jail, Jordan is being held on a $1 million bond and has an advisement hearing scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 20 at 1:30 p.m.

UPDATE: Suspect identified in UCCS double homicide

The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has identified the suspect in the double homicide at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) on Friday, Feb. 16.

According to CSPD, a warrant was obtained on Feb. 16 for the charges of two counts of First Degree Murder for 25-year-old Nicholas Jordan of Detroit, Michigan. The CSPD Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force has been actively looking for Jordan since the warrant was signed Friday night.

According to Fox News, UCCS said Jordan was enrolled at the school at the time of the shooting.

Just before 8 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 19, CSPD’s Motor Vehicle Theft Unit located Jordan in a vehicle. About 30 minutes later, just before 8:40 a.m., officers with the Tactical Enforcement Unit responded and took Jordan into custody without incident in the 4900 block of Cliff Point Circle East, which is north of the Centennial Boulevard and Garden of the Gods Road intersection.

A suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the deaths of Samuel Knopp and Celie Montgomery, two young adults who were killed the morning of Friday, Feb. 16 at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS).

The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) released an update on Monday, Feb. 19, saying that a suspect was in custody and the investigation is ongoing. CSPD reiterated that this was an isolated incident between people who knew one another and was not a random attack on the university or any of its other students.

More details about the suspect and charges will be provided at a later time, said CSPD.
