Suspect in South Nashville shooting that injured 6 people was out on $50k bond

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A convicted felon who was out on bond has been arrested in connection with some early morning gunfire near a South Nashville nightclub that left six people wounded, police said.

According to Metro Police, the shooting was reported just after 2 AM on Sunday, April 14 outside the Soho Bar on Bell Rd.

Police arrested 24-year-old Erik Dewaun Williams on six counts of felony reckless endangerment and one count of unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon.

As law enforcement responded to the scene, they reportedly saw Williams holding a pistol. Authorities said he threw it down when he noticed them and tried to run, but he was taken into custody and his gun was recovered.

Williams has a substantial criminal history and was out on a $50,000 bond at the time of the shooting related to a 2022 Davidson County Grand Jury indictment.

According to the indictment, the Grand Jury convicted Williams of felony involving a deadly weapon and reckless endangerment for putting people at Riverside Skate Center in danger.

Williams is set to appear in court next month in relation to that case.

According to Murfreesboro Police, in March 2018, Williams was suspected of shooting someone in the hip and also of shots that were fired at a building and a car.

Rutherford County court records show Williams pled guilty to reckless endangerment for shooting into an “occupied habitat” and was also charged with attempted first-degree murder. The first-degree murder charges were dismissed.

As of Monday, Williams was back behind bars on a $300,000 bond for Sunday’s shooting.

Meanwhile, the three other victims — described by authorities as a 23-year-old man and a 24-year-old man, both from Columbia, and a 20-year-old woman from Spring Hill — left in a private vehicle that crashed at the intersection of Bell Road and Murfreesboro Pike.
