Suspect sought one year after fatal drive-by shooting in Northern California

(FOX40.COM) — The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said it’s continuing its search for the suspect of a drive-by shooting that killed a man in May 2023.

On May 7, 2023 around 10 p.m., deputies with the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office were called to W Mokelumne Avenue and Thornton Road for reports of shots fired.

Deputies said four people were found with gunshot wounds, one of whom was declared dead at the scene. Three other victims were taken to the hospital with injuries.

The incident was investigated as a drive-by shooting, the sheriff’s office said.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, the sheriff’s office said the person who died from the shooting on May 7 was Antonio Ceja, and it is seeking to provide closure to Ceja’s family.

“The Sheriff’s Office needs those with knowledge to come forward and help us give closure to Ceja’s family,” the Facebook post read. “If you have any information regarding the murder of Antonio Ceja, Please contact our homicide unit and ask for Detective Michael Knight or Detective Sammy Davis by email (investigations@sjgov.org) or you can anonymously contact the Stockton Crime-stoppers at 209.946.0600.”
