Suspect on the run nearly a week after deadly crash

Authorities are asking the public for help Tuesday, nearly one week after a motorist fled from a deadly crash on the 10 Freeway in Banning.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to the violent collision on the eastbound 10 near 8th Street just after 12:30 a.m. on March 13.

Arriving officers found a 29-year-old woman down in the No. 4 lane of the freeway, a CHP news release issued Tuesday stated.

The release did not identify the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said the woman was walking within the lanes of the freeway when she was struck by an unknown vehicle that left the scene.
