Suspect at large after shooting leaves man dead

The Los Angeles Police Department is seeking witnesses after a shooting left a man dead in Sun Valley.

Authorities say the incident occurred around 9:15 p.m. Friday in the 8600 block of Morehart Avenue. Officers responded to a call about an assault with a deadly weapon.

When they arrived, they found a 22-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound as he sat inside his vehicle. The man had crashed into a parked car after being shot. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

LAPD did not release any details about a potential suspect or suspects. Anyone who may have information about the shooting is asked to contact Valley Bureau Homicide Detectives at 818-374-9550.
