Suspect in Glendale hit-and-run that left a teen hospitalized turns himself in, police say

A man turned himself in Saturday for his role in a hit-and-run incident last Thursday that left one teenager in critical condition with a skull fracture and broken legs, according to Glendale Police Department.

Police said Joshua Holbert turned himself in on Saturday and admitted to driving the vehicle in the crash along with leaving the scene. He was charged with a hit-and-run.

What happened?

At around 7:30 p.m. on April 11, Holbert was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer westbound along West Northern Avenue approaching 47th Avenue. Police said Holbert hit a 13-year-old boy who was biking across the crosswalk from south to north.

A bystander got out of their vehicle and administered CPR while Holbert kept driving, according to court records.

Police said that Holbert saw the department's press conference on Friday afternoon and saw that there was a police presence in and around his apartment complex and decided to turn himself in on Saturday.

What is the victim's condition?

As of Sunday, police said they had no update on the boy's condition. Arrest records described the boy's injuries to included a fractured skull and broken legs.

"We here at the Glendale Police Department hope he is able to make a full recovery," said Jose Miguel Santiago, a spokesperson for the agency.

"We hope his family can find some peace knowing we will do all we can to aid in the prosecution of Mr. Holbert."
