Suspect in Foley park stabbing still on the loose, victim released from hospital

FOLEY, Ala. (WKRG) — The victim of a stabbing earlier this week at a park in Foley is out of the hospital and recovering according to her parents, but the community is still on edge with the suspect still out there.

“This is like a shock to us hearing this,” park visitor Vern Vyborny said.

It’s the kind of crime that is not supposed to happen here, but it did happen as the sun was setting on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old victim was stabbed multiple times. Family members said she was jogging along the Rose Trail of the park just before the attack.

A security camera caught an image of the man police say is responsible. He has not been arrested. They also describe the attack as a random act that has left park visitors like Vyborny uneasy.

“Now we’re like if somebody looks suspicious, do we profile somebody? We’re not like that, but now I’m like over my shoulder more and more,” Vyborny said.

Police have not released any updates on their investigation. Foley Police Chief Thurston Bullock did say he was confident in the direction the investigation is headed and that they will solve this case.

Still, 48 hours after the attack folks in the park remain fearful.
