Suspect in custody after Headland standoff

HEADLAND, Ala (WDHN) — One person was taken into custody after an armed standoff with police in Headland Monday afternoon.

Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship says deputies and Headland Police were called to a home on Hollon Street in Headland sometime after 4:00 p.m. after someone was seen shooting into the air.

According to Headland Police, once officers arrived, the male suspect barricaded himself inside the home.

Sources told WDHN that the man seemed to be suffering from emotional distress.

Reports show the standoff began around 4:30 p.m.

The suspect was taken into custody at around 5:50 p.m.

No one was injured during the standoff.

No charges have been announced while Headland Police continues to investigate the incident.
