UPDATE: Suspect of Wausau overnight shooting arrested in Oneida County, in possession of stolen vehicle

WEDNESDAY, 4/10/24 – 1:30 p.m.

ONEIDA COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – The suspect allegedly involved in an early Wednesday morning shooting has been arrested in Oneida County, authorities say he was likely driving a stolen vehicle.

According to the Wausau Police Department, 36-year-old Zach Tesky is now in custody after being arrested by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday afternoon.

Around 9:10 a.m., an officer responded to a stolen vehicle in the 1700 block of Stark Street in Wausau. Officers say the vehicle was allegedly stolen by Tesky sometime during the overnight hours.

A query of the department’s Flock Safety ALPR system produced license plate captures in Oneida County.

Just before noon, the Wausau Police Department was notified that Tesky had been arrested in Oneida County by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office. The release notes that Tesky was reportedly in possession of the stolen vehicle.

Tesky will be transported to the Marathon County Jail.

The Wausau Police Department is recommending charges of 1st Degree Reckless Injury, Operating a Motor Vehicle without Owner’s Consent, and Bail Jumping.

Original story: ‘Suspect considered dangerous’: Wausau Police search for suspect who allegedly shot man during dispute, fled

WEDNESDAY, 4/10/24 – 10:38 a.m.

WAUSAU, Wis. (WFRV) – Officers in central Wisconsin are searching for a suspect who reportedly fled north after allegedly shooting another man in Wausau during a dispute at a home.

According to the Wausau Police Department, officers are looking for 36-year-old Zach A. Tesky who was last seen in a Ford F150 heading north on Highway 47 near Rhinelander.

Officers initially responded to a shooting just before 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the 200 block of North 7th Street, where they say a 33-year-old man sustained non-life-threatening injuries after allegedly being shot in the leg during a dispute with Tesky.

A resident of the home called 911 and reported that his friend was shot. Officers say that Tesky fled the home on foot before officers arrived at the scene, and are continuing to search for Tesky.

The 33-year-old victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment and the firearm used in the incident was reportedly recovered at the home on North 7th Street.

Tesky is approximately 6’0″, 179 lbs, and bald. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket with white sleeves and blue jeans. Officers say the vehicle he may be driving, a 2003 silver Ford F150 with a disabled Wisconsin plate of 37843DS, was last seen traveling north on Highway 47 near Rhinelander at about 8:45 Wednesday morning.
