ST. LOUIS – A Florissant man has been charged with shooting someone who mistakenly approached the wrong vehicle near The Grove.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting happened a little before 3 a.m. on February 25 in the 4500 block of Swan Avenue, one block south of Manchester.

Police claim Andre T. Wilson, 35, was sitting in a Ford Fusion parked outside the Terra at the Grove apartment complex. A group of people were walking back from The Grove and mistook Wilson’s car for one of theirs.

Wilson took out a gun and opened fire on the group, striking a 25-year-old man in the chest multiple times. Others in the group ran for cover, while Wilson ran from the vehicle.

The shooting victim was rushed to the hospital. He was listed in critical condition at the time, but there has been no update since then.

A police dog later found the gun used in the shooting.

Investigators determined the Ford Fusion belonged to Wilson’s father-in-law. Wilson was parked in front of the apartment building, waiting to pick up his wife, who worked as a security guard at the complex.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Wilson with two counts of first-degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action, and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm. He remains jailed without bond.
