Suspect arrested in teen’s accidental shooting death in Escambia County: Sheriff’s Office

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — A man Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies were looking for over the weekend has been found and arrested, according to a Facebook post made by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

The original post said deputies were looking for 19-year-old Ethan O’Brien in connection with a deadly shooting on Friday.

Deputies were called to the 1300 block of Wishbone Road Friday for a report of shots fired. When they arrived, deputies found a 16-year-old boy dead from a gunshot wound, according to the post.

The post said deputies found that a large gathering was taking place at the home when O’Brien started showing off his gun.

While showing it off, the gun “accidentally discharged,” hitting the 16-year-old, according to the post.

O’Brien had left the scene by the time deputies arrived, said the post.

He was arrested for manslaughter through negligence.
