Suspect arrested in murder of convenience store owner

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Prince George’s County police said they arrested and charged a man for the murder of a convenience store owner earlier this month in Capitol Heights.

On March 5 just before 8 a.m., officers responded to the store, which is in the 900 block of Larchmont Ave. Police say 50-year-old Mohammad Hanif of Annandale, Va., was found inside suffering from head trauma.

He was taken to a hospital for emergency medical care where he died from his injuries on March 8.

Prince George’s County police looking for man suspected of killing convenience store owner

Officials arrested and charged 48-year-old Anthony Edward Stevens with first- and second-degree murder. Police say the suspect attacked Hanif while stealing from the store.

Stevens is being held at the Department of Corrections without bond. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police at (301) 516-2512.
