Man charged with second-degree murder following fatal shooting at Port Orchard home

A 58-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection to a fatal shooting at a Port Orchard home on Sunday morning, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.

KCSO deputies and officers with the Port Orchard Police Department responded to a residence in the 1700 block of Higgins Road Southeast at about 10:30 a.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies spoke with a woman who had blood on her hands and identified herself as the girlfriend of Chadwick Rose. She told deputies that Chet Weese had shot Rose, who was visiting Weese’s home.

Rose was later found dead inside the home with a gunshot wound, and Weese was arrested at the scene.

When deputies told Weese that Rose’s girlfriend identified him as the shooter, he responded by saying, “I did,” according to the KCSO.

Southeast Maple Street and Higgins Road were closed for several hours Sunday afternoon while authorities responded to the scene.

During a court appearance on Monday, Weese was charged with second-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm. He pleaded not guilty to both charges.

A judge ordered Weese to be held on $1 million bail.
