1 charged with murder after 17-year-old shot in southwest Charlotte

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have arrested a man in connection with a late December shooting that left a teenager dead and another person hospitalized.

Officers were called to the shooting on Long Talon Way on Dec. 27. At the scene, police found two people who has been shot. Seventeen-year-old Murahnee Johnson died at the scene and the other victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to CMPD, officers also found a home that had been shot into while people were inside. No one was hurt in that incident.

On Friday, Shawn Taliesin Davis Jr. was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and three counts of shooting into an occupied property.

Davis is currently in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives say the investigation into this case is still open and ongoing.
