CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A suspect who is accused of running a human trafficking operation appeared before a Mecklenburg County judge on Thursday.

Kadeem Williams, 33, was arrested last month in a sting operation at a Salisbury hotel. On Thursday a judge set his bond at $50,000 for assault and domestic violence charges.

Authorities said Williams paid for a ride-share service to take a 16-year-old girl from Charlotte to a hotel. Williams is accused of grooming the victim and offering to provide a phone and a place to live. The teenager was then taken to an area medical center to be evaluated after she was rescued, the Rowan Sheriff’s Office said.
