Suspect accused of shooting at DC police officer extradited from Prince George’s County

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — One of the men accused of being involved in shooting at an officer in D.C. was extradited from Prince George’s County, Md. on Thursday.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said that 21-year-old William Walker of Upper Marlboro, Md. was extradited to the District on May 23 pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant. He was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (gun).

MPD said that another suspect, a 21-year-old man from Northwest, D.C. was still in custody in Prince George’s County. On Tuesday, the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) said that it had arrested 21-year-old Rasheed Thorne for the incident.

MPD said that he was wanted in D.C. for assault with a dangerous weapon.

According to MPD, an off-duty captain was driving to work on Monday when he saw a car “driving erratically.” The car stopped, and one of the people inside got out before firing at the captain’s car.

The captain drove to the Fourth District Station for help and was taken to a hospital. He was released the same day after he was treated.

MPD said its captain got a partial license plate from the incident — that information was relayed to the Real Time Crime Center (RTCC), which located the vehicle shortly afterward.

MPD followed the car to Landover, where the car crashed. PGPD took Walker and Thorne into custody after the crash.
