Survivors Of Columbine High School Shooting Share How Their Lives Have Been Affected During The Last 19 Years
Almost 19 years ago, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris entered Columbine High School with an arsenal of weapons and explosive and killed 12 students and one teacher. Amy and Katie, students who survived the massacre, say that every time there’s another school shooting, they re-live the event.
“It affects me terribly,” says Amy. “I’m now a mother of two and I send them into this environment that I feel isn’t safe. It’s a struggle every day to send them off to school.”
Katie adds, “It’s re-victimizing all over again. You relate to the sounds, the emotions. You’re at square one again. It resets my progress.”
In the video above, the women also discuss what it’s like living with survivor’s guilt.
