'Survivor' season continues but 1 MS competitor is feeling the heat. Here's what happened

Two Mississippi men competing on the latest season of "Survivor" may still be alive in the competition, with the Yanu tribe getting a win for a change and Nami tribe holding its own in this week's episode.

But as the competition gets whittled down with every passing week, do they have what it takes to stay in the game?

Yanu tribe member Quintavius "Q" Burdette, a Senatobia native and former Ole Miss football player, felt discouraged during this week's episode, which one competitor saw as an advantage.

"This morning, I knew something was off, but now Q has thrown himself on his sword and saying he's ready to go home," fellow Yanu tribe member Kenzie Petty said during the show. "That's one step closer for me in the end."

Hunter McKnight, a science teacher at French Camp Academy, appears to be in a better position with his tribe. As he lounged with tribemates Tevin Davis and Liz Wilcoxm, they discuss who they think should go to tribal council from their team.

"I think Soda has got to go-da," Davis told Wilcox, adding McKnight was one of the tribemates who should stay.

In the end, it was the Siga tribe that lost a castaway. Jemila “Jem” Hussain-Adams became the first from Siga to leave the competition.

The Siga and Nami tribes each have five castaways. Nami lost a player when aerospace tech Randen Montalvo was sent home for health reasons. Yanu lost three members in the first four weeks of the show: Bhanu Gopal, David Jelinsky and Jessica “Jess” Chong.

Thirteen castaways remain on Fiji going into Episode 6 to compete for the $1 million prize.

The next episode airs at 7 p.m. Wednesday on CBS or streams on Paramount+.
