'Survivor' fans fall in love with 'sweet angel' after heroic moment

It was a do-or-die moment on the season premiere of Survivor: Ghost Island when Donathan Hurley’s tribe called on him during a challenge. And despite doubting himself, Donathan gave it his best shot.

The contestants had to dive down in the water and release a bunch of balls, and when one of the tribe members was struggling, Donathan was the only other person who could give it a try. He doubted himself at first, saying he couldn’t do it, but eventually dove in and released the balls. The tribe lost the challenge, but Donathan became a hero.

Fans immediately took to Twitter to show their love for the castaway.

Donathan even got some love from a former Survivor castaway.

People were loving Donathan and are already protective of him.

Whether or not Donathan makes it far in the game remains to be seen, but he’s captured our hearts and proved something to himself. After the challenge he reflected on his heroic moment, saying, “With some encouragement of my friends here, you know, they definitely wanted me to try it. And I did it. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined I’d do what I just did there.”

Survivor airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
