What Surprised Emma Stone About the La La Land Sets

Though La La Land might be better remembered for the Oscar it didn’t win thanks to the Best Picture envelope snafu, it did still pick up awards in six categories. Production designer David Wasco and set decorator Sandy Reynolds-Wasco earned first-time Academy Awards for their work, which included a staggering number of sets and locations that had to accommodate the often large-scale musical numbers. But the duo's Technicolor sets didn't just dazzle audiences; the film's cast and crew were similarly captivated by the graphic backdrops, from an ingenue's cheery apartment to an Old Hollywood-style take on Paris.
