Surprise, but Andrew Luck was never healthy in 2016

After an injury riddled 2015 season, Andrew Luck was ready to get back on track. He missed 7 games that season due to several injuries. Including a ruptured kidney and a shoulder injury that forced him to miss the last five weeks of the season.

Luck bounced back this season and finished with 4,240 passing yards with 31 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. None were career highs, but his completion percentage (63.5) and QBR (71.2) were. Luck was back on his game and arguably a top 5 quarterback again.

But, what if Luck was never at 100 percent this past season? That seemed to be the case as Luck was listed on the injury report for every week in 2016. Remember that shoulder injury he suffered from early on in 2015? That never went away.

So let’s get this straight. Luck battled a sore throwing shoulder all season, but still managed to set career highs in several categories. It is not like Grigson and Pagano gave him an offensive line that could consistently protect him. Remember, Luck was sacked 42 times this season, the fifth most in the league.

The Colts offensive line came together over the last few weeks of the season, but those hits take a toll. And a quarterback with a bum shoulder should have struggled down the stretch. Instead, Luck threw for 13 touchdowns over the last five weeks of the season.

For the first time in two years it appears as though Luck will start a season 100 percent healthy. A scary thought for his opponents. But for Colts fans, it will be like the second coming of Terminator 2.
