Before Callum Robinson, his brother and a friend were killed while on a surfing trip in Mexico, the Australia native left his girlfriend a romantic voicemail.

“It’s 11:11 and I’m just thinking about you,” Robinson reportedly said in the message. “Just wanted to drop you a quick message and say hello, baby.”

7 News reported that Robinson’s girlfriend, Emily Horwath, posted the voicemail message on Instagram, captioning it, “Will be playing this on repeat.”

“Hope you’re having a phenomenal start to your day,” the voicemail reportedly continued. “I’m sensing a big grin on your face for some reason today. I hope you’re full of positivity and smiles. Cheers, baby. Miss ya.”

Robinson, 33, who moved to San Diego from Australia, his brother, Jake Robinson, 30, from Perth, Australia, and their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad, 30, went missing on April 27 while on a surfing trip near Ensenada. Authorities found their dead bodies at the bottom of a 50-foot well in Santo Tomas, Baja California, on May 3, having suffered gunshot wounds.

A man, identified by his first and middle names due to a Mexican law, Jesús Gerardo, 33, has since been charged in connection with their deaths.

The San Diego Union-Tribune, the BBC, and The Independent reported that a judge in Mexico heard in court that the suspect had told his girlfriend that he attacked “three gringos,” and before allegedly clarifying that he killed the trio.

The outlets report that Jesús Gerardo is charged with forced disappearance but is expected to face murder charges. The BBC reported that the girlfriend and another man have been detained for alleged involvement.

It's not immediately clear if Jesús Gerardo has entered a plea or retained an attorney.

The Union-Tribune reported that the girlfriend claimed to authorities that the suspect attacked the three men over the tires on their vehicle.

Baja California’s chief state prosecutor María Elena Andrade Ramírez said at a press conference that authorities believe the three men were killed for their truck tires,, the Associated Press reported.

"The world has become a darker place for us," Callum and Jake’s mother Debra Robinson, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. “We also mourn the loss of [Jack] Carter Rhoad, a close friend. They were young men enjoying their passion of surfing together.”
