GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Donald Trump and several other prominent North Carolina Republicans spoke at the Greensboro Coliseum rally on Saturday.

Supporters of the former President gathered ahead of his Saturday afternoon rally at the Greensboro Coliseum.

The “Get Out the Vote Rally” took place at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex on West Gate City Boulevard.

Who will be Donald Trump’s running mate?

Doors opened at 11 a.m. and Trump began speaking at around 2:14 p.m.

Trump began his speech by covering topics such as immigration and securing the border, his ongoing legal battles and claims that the 2020 election was rigged.

Trump compared the damage that President Joe Biden has done during his Presidency to the “10 worst Presidents” in American history and claimed that Biden is “giving aid and comfort” to foreign enemies of the United States and referred to him as a “danger to democracy.”

The former President also acknowledged Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson and endorsed his ongoing gubernatorial campaign calling him “an outstanding lieutenant governor.” He also compared Robinson to Martin Luther King.

Sen. Ted Budd and Rep. Dan Bishop were also among the politicians Trump acknowledged in his speech. He endorsed Bishop’s campaign for attorney general.

Rep. Virginia Foxx and Rep. Lauren Boebert also received praise from the former President.

Trump also endorsed Addison McDowell’s run for North Carolina’s 6th District.

Trump also spoke positively on how he dealt with ISIS and other foreign conflicts during his Presidency.

He criticized Biden on topics like inflation and gas prices and promised to impose penalties on China and other “trade abusers” if elected again.

He also promised to “overhaul” the Department of Justice and to protect the Second Amendment.

Trump also called for the use of paper ballots and the use of voter IDs in elections.

The former President also criticized the use of electric vehicles for military equipment; specifically tanks and aircraft.

Trump also repeatedly referred to those jailed as a result of the Capitol riots on Jan. 6, 2020, as “hostages.”

Trump also claimed that a “great recession” would occur in the stock market if he does not win the 2024 election.

Video showed thousands gathered outside the Greensboro Coliseum waiting for the doors to open, waving flags and chanting in support of the former President.

FOX8’s Justin Lundy was at the scene as those supporters as the former President and several other prominent North Carolina Republicans spoke.

Notable attendees and speakers at the rally include:

  • Rep. Virginia Foxx

  • Sen. Ted Budd

  • North Carolina Sheriff’s Association President Darren Campbell

  • Rep. Jimmy Dixon

  • NCGOP chairman Michael Whatley

  • Speaker of the North Carolina House Rep. Tim Moore.

The Greensboro Police Department announced on Thursday that drivers can expect delays and heavy traffic around the Coliseum area on Saturday. If you do not need to be in the area it is suggested you avoid it.

As of Friday afternoon, GPD said that it was still establishing times and routes for Trump’s visit. However, no roads along the route are expected to be closed for any extended period of time.
