Support Jeff Price for county commissioner; he stands against solar project

Dear Crawford County friends,

The March 19 primary election is fast approaching. Two county commissioners are up for re-election on the ballot. It’s time for Crawford County citizens to make their voices heard at the ballot. Counties in Ohio and other states are taking steps to protect fertile farm land from future large scale solar and industrial wind projects. We’re grateful to the two commissioners who signed the industrial wind turbine referendum but realize now that the ban should have been permanent and included large solar projects.

The Ohio Power Siting Board approved the Sycamore Creek Solar project several years ago. This project is slated to begin this year, covering approximately 917 acres in Cranberry Township outside of New Washington. In June 2023 at a commissioners meeting, I asked if they would ever consider a referendum to prevent further large scale solar projects and they answered no.

Hopefully they will reconsider as the potential of these large solar projects expanding is very concerning. We need to elect commissioners who will listen to their constituents, just as when we spoke loud and clear in November 2022, with the landslide victory on Issue 4.

In this upcoming election Mr. Jeff Price is running to unseat an incumbent commissioner who supported the Honey Creek Wind Project. Price has stated, “Together we can stop large scale solar and industrial wind projects, quit outsourcing our county services and put our county and its residents as top priority.“ You can read more about Jeff Price on his Facebook page “Jeff Price for County Commissioner."

There should be more transparency at the commissioners office. For example, livestream video of weekly open public meetings and post weekly agenda online. Our citizens deserve to know early on about what’s being planned in our county, not after the fact.

Our county's future is up to you. Make your vote count. I’ll be voting for Jeff Price.
