Superman comic fetches record-smashing $3.2M
If you thought $35 million for a Ferrari was outrageous, get ready for this.
A rare copy of Action Comics #1 - which features the first appearance of Superman - in near perfect condition, sold for a jaw-dropping $3.2 million on eBay (EBAY) Sunday, making it the most expensive comic in the world.
The previous record was set in 2011 when another copy of Action Comics #1 sold for nearly $2.2 million.

When it was launched in 1938, the comic was sold for just $0.10 on the newsstands.
Action Comics #1 is considered the holy grail of comic books. According to collectors, there are as few as 50 unrestored copies still in existence.
The lucky seller of the comic was collectibles dealer Darren Adams, who is the owner of Pristine Comics in Washington.
"I'm proud to have owned the most valuable comic book in the world...this auction allowed me to share this rare treasure with the global community and ensure the next owner is just as passionate about its place in history," said Adams.
Harshen Patel, director of operations at Certified Guaranty Company, which provides grading service for collectible items referred to the sale as a "historic moment" that speaks to the overall health of the comic book market.
"You see it with collectors enjoying record sales, with the performance of Guardians of the Galaxy at the box office and with the attendance at Wizard World Chicago Comic Con this past week. It's a dynamic time for the comic book industry and its future is very bright," he said.

And it isn't just the comic book market that's enjoying record-breaking sales.
Earlier this month, a 52-year-old Ferrari smashed the record for the most expensive car ever sold at auction, fetching a staggering $34.65 million.
