Sunshine and above-average warmth for Memorial Day

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Happy Monday, Utah! We wish you a meaningful Memorial Day. The weather will be similar to Sunday with the main changes being warmer temperatures across the state.

Bottom Line?! Calm weather to start the day, mostly sunny skies and warmer temperatures statewide as southwest flow increases.

Temperatures are expected to warm roughly 5 degrees above seasonal averages statewide. This calls for 70s and low 80s for the northern half of the state and 80s and 90s down south. We’re expecting dry skies for much of the state on Memorial Day, however, limited moisture from the southwest could produce a few isolated showers over the Southern Mountains by the afternoon.

High pressure will largely remain in control of the forecast through midweek, keeping sunshine and above-average temperatures in place. The exception is on Wednesday when partly cloudy skies are expected from a system passing to the north.

A few isolated mountain showers are possible with unlikely showers for the valleys. We will see temperature changes by the end of the week as a storm system will slide into the Pacific Northwest.

Cooler air moving into Northern Utah could drop temperatures into the mid-70s along the Wasatch Front on Thursday and Friday, otherwise, mostly sunny and dry weather is expected to continue.
