Summer isn't over, but it's almost back-to-school for most of the Rockford area
The days of starting the school year after Labor Day appear to be long gone for all but one Rockford area school.
In fact, many schools are starting to open their doors in mid-August.
The early start allows schools to end the first semester with winter break. It also allows school districts to make up any snow days and still have the school year end by late May or early June.
