Summer food assistance for those in need

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Colorado Blueprint to End Hunger is working side by side with other organizations across the state to make sure children and families don’t go hungry this summer.

Grand Valley Catholic Outreach is one of those organizations. Director of Development and Communication for Catholic Outreach Beverly Lampley says the outreach served 1,136 people last month, about 450 of them children.

“I will never forget, the little boy who saw the box of food and he saw a box of cereal and he said, ‘We get to have cereal today?!? Is there any milk?’ Lampley says simple things like that are what many kids take for granted.

If your family could use help with food supplies this summer, you could click here to visit foodfinder.us or text ‘food’ or ‘comida’ to 304-304 to find a summer meals site.
