There’s no shortage of content out there for readers to navigate through and consume. And so, oftentimes readers will find themselves having overwhelming, unsatisfying, or incomplete experiences.
Raftr is here to try to solve those problems.
“It’s basically a social media platform that’s a more curated version of news, sports and entertainment than what’s available today,” said co-founder and CEO Sue Decker.
“The social networks that exist are terrific, but they’ve gotten a little noisy,” she added. ‘And they’re a little scary at times. So, we’ve added a little bit of curation and a way to find people interested in the same things”
Just in time for Berkshire Hathaway’s annual shareholders meeting, the folks at Raftr created a “raft” called Berkshire Hathaway.
“You can participate in live chat during the meeting,” Decker said. “We’re hoping the fans can find each other, can chat, and can play with the bot we have that’ll give you quotes from Warren and Charlie, and tell you what they think about things like dividends and taxes.”
Decker is a director at Berkshire Hathaway and former president of Yahoo, the parent of Yahoo Finance.
