Sudbury election results: New officials picked as nearly 1 in 4 voters cast ballots
SUDBURY — Mary Teresa Stephens and Karyn Jones were the winners in an all-newcomer, three-way race for two seats on the School Committee in Monday's annual town election.
The race was one of just two on the ballot that were contested.
Stephens topped the ticket with 2,290 votes, with Jones right behind her with 2,223. The third candidate, Richard Thalman, received 1,018 votes.
Stephens and Jones will replace Chair Silvia Nerssessian, who opted out of a third three-year term in early February, and Sarah Troiano, who decided not to run again after winning a special one-year term last spring.
The only other contested race was for Select Board. The two incumbents, Daniel Carty (2,047 votes) and Janie Dretler (1,995 votes) held off challenger Eric Poch (1,407 votes) to earn new three-year terms.
