Subway rats fight over the ultimate delicacy, the New York City bagel
Life is all about how you look at it. For example, this rat fight over a bagel on a New York subway track is either a horrific metaphor for the desperate human struggle for life and resources in NYC, or a sweet, Pixar-like short story about compromise.

Somehow, the incredibly optimistic Instagram user who posted the video sees it as the latter, but the only hopeful crumb I can snatch out of this video is the fact that the bagel thief didn't just decide to say f—k it and take a hairy hunk out of his ravenous adversary.

Watchers of all things subway will immediately compare this scene to the famed Pizza Rat, which, as stomach turning as it was, actually makes perfect sense. Next to pizza, New York is best known for its bagels, a culinary treasure appreciated by even the least finicky eaters on our streets.
With that said, good luck smearing a heaping spoonful of cream cheese over your next bagel and not thinking of this filthy rat fight defiling its fluffy goodness.
