Subregional basketball: Dudley shoots Anniston into Northeast Regional

Feb. 15—Allasha Dudley had another one of her signature games to keep Anniston's girls on course in defense of their first state title.

The senior guard and reigning 4A player of the year poured in 32 points, and the Bulldogs downed Cherokee County 57-42 in Monday's Northeast subregional game at Anniston.

Anniston (22-3), the reigning 4A state champion, advanced to Northeast Regional semifinal against the Priceville-Oneonta winner. The Bulldogs will play host for that game.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, regional semifinals will be played at host-school sites this season. Anniston's girls played host to their area tournament and subregional game, and they're on top of the bracket, so they'll play their regional semifinal at home.

Northeast Regional championships will play out at Jacksonville State University's Pete Mathews Coliseum, the tournament's traditional site.

Dudley's big day included 10-for-11 shooting at the free-throw line. She was 8-for-8 in the fourth quarter. She also hit four 3-pointers.

The Bulldogs also got nine points apiece from Asia Barclay and Serena Hardy, and Barclay pulled down 15 rebounds.
