Study: White Sox cheapest game to attend in MLB

CHICAGO — While fans of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs will be footing the most expensive bill to see a ballgame with their families this summer, a 10-mile trip down DuSable Lake Shore Drive from Wrigley Field to the South Side will give fans the biggest bang for their buck to see a Major League Baseball game.

According to bookies.com, the total cost to see the Chicago White Sox this summer will be the cheapest experience to see a MLB game, based on a number of factors.

Aside from MLB odds for sports betting, bookies.com also calculates the average cost to attend MLB games at each of the league’s 30 stadiums. Factors included in their calculations are the price of the cheapest ticket multiplied by four, lot parking, two 16-ounce beers, two 20-ounce sodas and four hot dogs.

Their calculations show South Side baseball fans can get a four-pack of tickets for $38, pay $27 for parking, get two beers for $21, two sodas for $12 and four hot dogs for $20, bringing the grand total to a bargain price of $118 to get the full experience at a White Sox game.

Comparatively, bookies.com finds the White Sox experience to be $62.54 cheaper than the MLB average of $180.54, $204.25 cheaper than the league-leading Dodgers ($322.35), and $149 cheaper than their North Side counterparts, the Cubs ($267).

The White Sox open up their season at Guaranteed Rate Field against the Detroit Tigers on March 28 with first pitch set for 3:10 p.m. CST.
