New study says red wine and chocolate is the secret to youth

Forget the anti-aging creams, soaps, and lotions -- turns out the secret to youth is actually chocolate and red wine!

Researchers at the Exeter and Brighton Universities team found that both helped in making people look younger by rejuvenating old cells. The team says that in just a few hours, older cells were dividing and had longer telomeres, which are sort of like the plastic tips at the end of shoelaces.

The New York Post reports that compounds based on chemicals in red wine, dark chocolate, red grapes, and blueberries were applied to cells.

"These old cells were looking like young cells. It was like magic," Exeter’s Dr. Eva Latorre said.

Studies that have touted the health benefits of both wine and chocolate, claiming that they can help with heart health, cholesterol, memory and weight management. However, their link to anti-aging might just convince you even more to have a glass of wine with chocolate every so often.

And so it was written -- a glass of red wine and chocolate per day might just keep the wrinkles away.
