Study finds Oregon, Washington among top 10 states with expensive yards

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — With housing prices continually on the rise, a new study has revealed that having a yard can make or break the cost of a home in the United States.

As it turns out, both Oregon and Washington rank among the top 10 states with the highest average cost for that very yard.

The study, conducted by real estate experts with The Robert Dekanski Team, analyzed Zillow property listings in all 50 states, then calculated the average cost per square foot of yard size.

Meanwhile, Oregon ranks seventh in yard price, with an average price of $42.34 per square foot. This is also where Oregon ranks on most expensive home prices nationwide, with an average price of $527,600.
