Student charged for bringing fake gun to CT high school, prompting lockdown

A teenager was charged with breach of peace for allegedly bringing a gun later determined to be fake to Windsor High School on Thursday.

Officers were alerted just before 11 a.m. that a student at the school was in possession of what was believed to be a gun in the bathroom, according to the Windsor Police Department.

Officers responded to the school and the facility was put into lockdown, police said.

Shortly after arriving, police located the student and found that he had a facsimile firearm.

The boy, 16, was charged with second-degree breach of peace, according to police. He was turned over to a parent and is expected to answer to the charge in juvenile court.

Police said the lockdown lasted about 30 minutes and was lifted after it was ensured there were no other safety concerns.
