Student carrying gun at east Charlotte elementary school: Police

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A student was found with a gun at an east Charlotte elementary school Friday morning, police say.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, officers were advised by staff at Devonshire Elementary School just before 8 a.m. that a student brought a gun onto school property. Staff then found the student and immediately took the weapon before entering the school building.

Officers say the gun was unloaded. No injures were reported.
