SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — State Senator Marty Flynn’s Student Ambassador Program met at Lackawanna College in Scranton on Thursday.

The program offers local students from schools in the 22nd district the opportunity to learn about the Pennsylvania legislature and state government.

It’s an opportunity for students to work with their peers from other schools and propose legislation to Senator Flynn and local state representatives.

At Thursday’s meeting, the students learned about bill writing and lobbying.

They also heard from some elected officials in Luzerne County.

Students even got the chance to learn about how state government works in cooperation with the media,

28/22 News Reporter Amelia Sack gave a presentation and answered questions.

“We heard from lobbying today, and we heard from county commissioners last time. and it like kind of opened up my eyes more that there’s more to government than the presidency and governor and stuff like that,” Scranton High Senior George Svetovich said.

“I just think it’s really cool learning about all the aspects of government and how, like how many parts there are and how much stuff goes into passing bills and legislature and stuff like that,” said Wyoming Area School District Junior Paul Panek.
