Student aid hearing held for FAFSA delays and technical issues

(WHTM) – It’s supposed to be easy that’s the whole point. But students and parents have been struggling to fill out the FAFSA form which can provide families with federal financial aid for college.

The process has been riddled with delays and technical issues and the department of education hasn’t been able to process many applications on time.

On Wednesday, there was a hearing in the state house about this. Education experts said families need help and they need it now.

Patrick Brett, the North Penn High School Guidance Councilor said, “The people that need the help are those who are socioeconomically disadvantaged, single parent or grandparent who are raising these children and are possibly first-generation college-bound.”

Suggested solutions included helping students fill out a mock FAFSA form and expanding financial literacy courses.
