Structure fire in Daniels closes route 19

DANIELS, WV (WVNS) — Even as early as 9:30 Sunday morning, Route 19 was being shut down and blocked off by fire crews.

Crews from Beaver Volunteer Fire Department, Coal City Volunteer Fire Department and Ghent Fire Department were on scene in order to battle the blaze.

Zachary Meador, the Public Information Officer with Beaver VFD, gave a statement.

“Okay, this morning we were dispatched, initially was a car fire, we were upgraded to a motor vehicle accident with flames involved when we arrived on scene. There were three vehicles involved which were on fire, and a structure that was involved that was also on fire,” said Meador.

Meador said the structure involved was an abandoned house. There has been no official word on any injuries or fatalities that occurred during this incident.

The scene is still under active investigation.
